Clinical Quality Improvement
Clinical Quality Improvement (QI) is a key activity for our Clinical Board communities. QI activities can vary from a great discussion about a clinical case, through to clinical audit and significant event meetings. QI is about learning from each other and our past experiences. It’s about questioning what we do and exploring ways we can progress our standards and consistency of care, for the benefit of the patients we treat, our clients and our teams.
QI promotes a positive clinical workplace as it enables us all to see that we are doing a great job. It empowers our teams to make positive changes to the way they work and to confidently make recommendations to clients.

‘The audit of hypertension in cats undergoing general anaesthetic specifically for dental procedures resulted in a change of premed protocol for all our cats (of course premed choice should be decided on an individual patient basis).
The results have been amazing, the cats are much more easily handled and therefore less stressed when it comes to placing intravenous catheters prior to induction... Less stressed cats.... less stressed vets and nurses and of course the majority now have improved peri-operative blood pressure! I think when we continue to improve patient care we undoubtedly have greater job satisfaction as the patients are what it's all about for us nurses!’

Visualising PMS Data in Excel
This document is a guide to visualising data from your Practice Management System (PMS). This can be helpful for performing audits and communicating the results with your team. The data within this document have been taken from Robovet. Different PMS systems will have slightly different column titles

At VetPartners we are fortunate to have an engaging and approachable Clinical Board Support Team (CBST) with both clinical and extensive research experience. To learn more about the work of the CBST and how they empower our teams to undertake clinical quality improvement and research, click here.
