Russell Parker

Chair of the Equine Clinical Board
---
I graduated in 2004 and after completing an internship spent time in first opinion equine practice where I realised I wanted to become a surgeon. I did my residency at Edinburgh University, which included an MSc looking at stem cell viability, and passed my specialist board exams in 2012. After a period of time as a lecturer at Edinburgh I moved south to private practice and joined the Liphook Equine Hospital in 2014 where I am one of a team of specialists at the hospital. I see a varied caseload but have a particular interest in orthopaedics and advanced imaging.
Outside my ‘day job’ at Liphook I have been a member of the Equine Clinical Board since early 2019, and became Chair later that year. In this role I aim to develop clinical board activities to support our clinical teams and help them to provide excellent care for patients and their owners, in whatever form that may take. Within Vetpartners the opportunities for group wide collaboration, research and quality improvement are endless which is really exciting and I hope will have meaningful impact on how we practice.
I have two young girls and a menagerie of animals at home which keeps life busy. In my spare time I play bit of football (badly), ride (also badly) and am heavily involved in our current house renovation project, which may prove to be a mistake.
