MORE than 40 veterinary nurses from VetPartners’ practices across Ireland attended two CPD events on optimising the care of patients under anaesthetic.

The training, held over two days in July and August, was part of VetPartners’ commitment to providing the best possible care for patients and also supporting colleagues to develop their skills, knowledge and confidence with high-quality training.

The two events were open to VetPartners nurses working in practices across the island of Ireland and the training was delivered by Georgina Murphy, a lecturer in veterinary nursing.

As well as learning the latest updates on optimising care for patients under anaesthetic, there was a multi-parameter monitor demonstration and an opportunity to discuss and share ideas.

The two events were organised by VetPartners Business Support Manager Lisa Colleary, an RVN who previously worked in practice.

Lisa said: “From the feedback we received, there is a real appetite for high-quality training like this as colleagues really enjoyed it and said they were looking forward to more events like this.

“The events were reflective of our collaborative, all-Ireland approach. It was also a great opportunity for people from different practices to meet each other and network.”

Aoife Boyle, a veterinary nurse at All Creatures Veterinary Group in Monaghan, said: “It was a really informative and enjoyable CPD with lots of practical tips to help me build on my anaesthesia nursing skills and increase my knowledge in interpreting out new multiparameter monitor.”

The two training events were sponsored by Zoetis.

  • The next CPD event for nurses event will be on October 1st in The Killeshin Hotel, Portlaoise. The topic will be Nurse Consults with training delivered by Melanie O'Donoghue a vet nurse with more than 30 years’ experience.
