RECEPTIONIST Pamella Murphy has been rewarded with a VetPartners Nettie after being hailed as a practice star.
Pamella, who works at Avondale Vets in Arklow, County Wicklow, was nominated by her colleagues who wanted to reward her for all the invaluable work she does and for demonstrating our values of being respectful, supportive, dedicated, approachable and collaborative.
From social media volunteer to pet health plan champion, Pamella’s efforts have not gone unnoticed by colleagues. She is also a listening ear to colleagues and helps to give the practice a friendly feel with thoughtful gestures like a noticeboard featuring team member’s pets.
We have rewarded her with a cuddly Nettie mascot, a certificate and a £250 Love2Shop voucher. She is among 10 Nettie winners in March as every month we surprise colleagues with one of our prizes.
Practice Manager Jenna Jackson said: "Pam is a highly valued member of our team. I would like to acknowledge all she does for Avondale and her colleagues and let her know how much it is appreciated."
An equine receptionist, who organised an event to showcase her practice’s MRI expertise, is also among our latest winners.
Sam Anderson invited 30 farriers to Bearl Equine Clinic in Stocksfield, Northumberland, for a day of CPD to encourage greater collaboration between vets and farriers.
Thanks to Sam’s hard work and enthusiasm, the event was a huge success.
She used her own horsebox to collect chairs from the village hall and arranged snack boxes, treats and burgers for a hungry crowd of vets and farriers.
Sam has also been praised for her ability to be able to connect with clients and build relationships with the Northumberland equestrian community.
Bearl Equine Clinic Practice Manager Suzanne Sharp nominated Sam for a Nettie for demonstrating our values.
Suzanne said: “Sam is a real asset to our practice, and she energised the whole team to work with her to ensure the event was a success while the clinic was still able to ensure it continued to service the community.
“Her desire to tell the world about our practice and its expertise is genuine and infectious. Nominating her for a Nettie enabled us to say thank you for her efforts.”
Despite not being on shift, senior vet Struan Muirhead responded to a 2am SOS call to help a German Shepherd that needed emergency treatment after collapsing at home.
His colleagues at Braid Vets/E-Vets were unable to attend as they were dealing with poorly hospitalised patients and needed to remain available for other emergencies arriving at the 24-hour hospital.
Clinical director Matthew Hilary, who nominated Struan for a Nettie, said: “This demonstrated not only support for his colleagues, who were in a challenging position when a demand for a home visit is made in the middle of the night, but a dedication to animal welfare. He went well beyond what was expected.”
